JDW는 위생 솔루션 기업 CESCO와 협업하여 BlueOn Slim 포충등을 디자인했습니다. BlueOn Slim을 단순한 기계형 포충 장치가 아닌, 공간과 조화되는 정돈된 위생 오브제로 정의하며 디자인을 진행했습니다.
CESCO의 BlueOn Slim은 UV LED 램프가 직접적으로 노출되어 포획 성능을 강화하며, 다양한 실내 환경에서 사용할 수 있는 설치 자유도를 고려했습니다. 벽면 설치가 어려운 환경에서는 선반 위에 놓아 사용할 수 있도록 유연한 사용 시나리오를 제공합니다.
제품 전면은 반투명한 밀키 소재로 구성되어, 슬림한 바디 내부로 빛이 은은하게 확산되도록 설계되었습니다. 강한 UV 발광을 직접 노출하는 대신 부드럽게 투과시키는 방식으로, 사용자 시선을 자극하지 않으면서도 빛이 하나의 오브제처럼 공간에 스며들도록 합니다.
화이트 데코레이션 라이트와 레이어링된 구조는 기능적 요소들을 감추고, 해충 포획 홀과 블루 UV LED 램프의 존재를 지나치게 드러내지 않으면서도 효과적으로 해충을 유인합니다.
부드럽게 처리된 직사각형 실루엣은 다양한 인테리어 환경에서도 자연스럽게 어우러집니다. 반투명 커버 뒤에 자리한 블랙 점착 카트리지는 마치 ‘블랙홀’처럼 보이며, 해충을 포획해 빠져나가지 못하게 하는 기능적 콘셉트를 직관적으로 전달합니다.
작동 상태를 알려주는 LED 인디케이터는 과도하게 눈에 띄지 않는 밝기 레벨로 디자인되어, 사용자의 시선을 방해하지 않으면서도 필요한 정보를 명확히 제공하여 제품이 사용자에게 개입하기보다, 공간 속에 조용히 스며드는 존재로 설계되었습니다.
UV LED 사용으로 폐기 시 수은이나 납이 배출되지 않으며, 낮은 전력 사용과 난연 ABS 소재 적용으로 환경과 안전성도 고려했습니다. BlueOn Slim은 기능을 드러내기보다, 존재감은 낮지만 효과는 확실한 제품으로서, 위생 솔루션을 감성적인 UX 경험으로 전환하는 오브제형 포충등입니다.
JDW collaborated with CESCO, a hygiene solution company, to design the BlueOn Slim insect trap. Rather than treating BlueOn Slim as a mechanical device, JDW defined it as a refined hygiene object that harmonizes naturally within the space.
BlueOn Slim utilizes UV LED lamps that are intentionally exposed to enhance attraction and capture performance, while considering installation flexibility for a variety of indoor environments. In spaces where wall mounting is not ideal, it can be placed on shelves, enabling versatile usage scenarios.
The front surface features a translucent milky material that allows light to diffuse softly through the slim body. Instead of exposing the intense UV light directly, it gently permeates through the material, creating a subtle visual presence without distracting the user.
The layered structure with a white decorative light conceals functional elements and effectively attracts insects without visually revealing the UV light or the capture area.
The softly contoured rectangular silhouette blends naturally into different interior settings. Behind the translucent cover, the black adhesive cartridge visually resembles a “black hole,” intuitively communicating its function of trapping insects and preventing escape.
The LED indicator is designed with a restrained brightness level, delivering necessary feedback without drawing unnecessary attention. This ensures that the product becomes a quiet presence within the environment rather than an intrusive device.
By using UV LEDs, the product avoids mercury or lead emissions during disposal, and low power consumption along with flame-retardant ABS material provides safety and environmental consideration.
BlueOn Slim prioritizes presence without visual dominance offering a product where the performance is strong but its existence is subtle, transforming hygiene solutions into an emotional and seamless UX experience.
